Silence is a dynamic force. I would say both monastics and Zen practitioners see it the same way. How can you explain teaches like Father Robert Kennedy of the White Plum Asanga. Silence is both a discipline and gate into a "deeper" reality, a reality that breaks into our interconnectedness. As a Christian, I call that dwelling in the God who dwells in me and dwells in you and all of us. That has been my experience.
