Walking with Sequoias in 2024: Bearing Witness to Devastation and Regeneration
Come walk with the magnificent sequoias in the aftermath of huge conflagrations that consumed about a sixth of the population. In story and image, I will share experiences from last summer including a five-day retreat with Sam Sokyo Randall to visit with the sequoias in Kings Canyon National Park and Giant Sequoia National Monument. Together we will bear witness-- staying present with an open heart to the wonder of the forest, the heartbreak of loss, and the possibilities for regeneration. Discussion of actions to take in these challenging times will follow.
