Creating Our Own Experience in the World
Please join Oshō Mike Travisano for an interactive presentation.
How can we live with a peaceful heart and steady mind when so much of the world around us seems so frantic, divisive, violent, and painful? Leaning into the Buddha’s words on ‘Right Effort’ as a framework, this talk will explore simple, practical, and effective practices for cultivating a wise mind and peaceful heart, regardless of what is happening around us.
Drawing on years of clinical and pastoral experience, the intent of this talk is to present a series of thoroughly “street-tested” practices and thought-experiments for guarding against (and keeping away) unpeaceful mental states, and for cultivating (and preserving) mental states that are peaceful, useful, compassionate, and wise.
About the presenter:
Oshō Mike Travisano is an ordained Buddhist teacher with the Dragonfly Sangha in central Pennsylvania, where he teaches mindfulness to individuals and organizations, and works as a contemplative group treatment facilitator for an intensive outpatient program for adolescents and adults. Mike has delivered mindfulness-based interventions to thousands of clients, many of whom are living in profound periods of suffering (and many of whom are not Buddhist). Mike’s written work has been featured in Psychology Today, Tricycle magazine online, and he is the author of the book, Refuge in Small Things.
With gratitude,
The Zen Peacemakers Team
