A Call to Bear Witness: Walking the Path of History, Answering the Call of Now
Throughout history, those who came before us walked paths of suffering, resistance, and courage. They left footprints in the soil of injustice and sacrifice, carving out the freedoms we struggle to uphold today. The question is: what shall we do now?
In these times of deep turmoil, when the wounds of racism and division continue to bleed into our present, we cannot look away. It has long been our intention to create a Bearing Witness retreat to confront America’s racial history—not as bystanders, not as tourists, but as engaged participants in a living history that calls for reckoning and repair.
This year, we will walk the sacred and painful ground of Selma and Montgomery—where slavery expanded, where Jim Crow thrived, and where the Civil Rights movement rose in defiant love. We will immerse ourselves in the weight of these places, not just to learn, but to feel, to listen, and to stand in solidarity with the echoes of those who marched before us.
This is not just history. It is now.
We invite you to take this Plunge with us—not just as an intellectual exercise, but as a personal and transformative journey. Let us bear witness together and emerge with deeper clarity, connection, and the courage to act.
Will you join us?
